Used car market falters

05 November 2007
The used car market has suffered a slight downturn in fortunes, following a strong summer, it has been claimed.
According to EurotaxGlass's, October has seen a slight dip in the sales of used cars following an improvement in sales for new vehicles.
Commenting on the fortune of non-new cars, Adrian Rushmore, managing editor at EurotaxGlass's said: "Following an encouraging summer for used car prices, October's sudden slowdown has quickly transformed this into a buyers' market."
He added: "New car deals have been irresistibly attractive, and September marked as big a 'giveaway' as we can remember."
Meanwhile, the fortunes of used medium-sized panel vans continue to remain strong.
With demand for the vehicles remaining high for most of the year, EurotaxGlass's believe the strong sales of the vehicles could continue into 2008.
"With such a healthy backdrop for panel vans, just about every van range is achieving its best-ever used price performance." George Alexander, chief commercial vehicle editor at EurotaxGlass's said.
